You should know that your lender has your back and your best interest at heart. That’s why we’re incredibly selective in who we hire, and we refuse to compromise. As a result, we’ve assembled a dream team of Mortgage Experts, Personal Loan Managers, and Processors, along with additional strategic members, to continually elevate our clients’ experience.
Bill is one of the leaders of the team. He is “Mr. Positive” – always finding good news in every situation, good or bad. He is known for high fiving just about anyone and is quick to give hugs too! His enthusiasm is contagious, which leads to a fun working atmosphere and culture.
However, don’t let the happy-go-lucky exterior fool you! He is intensely competitive and expects nothing but the best from his team. He has a way with his unspoken candor and body language to keep his team on-track to excel at the highest level.
A true leader, Bill loves going to work and believes his “job” is a hobby!
In addition to loan origination, Bill plays a key role in relationship building. He is responsible for promoting and educating our business partners (REALTORS®, builders, financial advisors, CPAs, strategic alliances) on the tremendous benefits their clients and businesses will gain by working hand-in-hand with the Gaylord-Hansen Team.
Bill has also developed into the team’s social media guru! He is incredibly passionate about telling stories and connecting with people through video. If it’s related to content creation, interviews, or weekly mortgage topics on Facebook Live - you know he is on it!
Bill absolutely loves his job, and it shows in the results the team has achieved.
Sam is one of the most driven, competitive and passionate individuals you will meet. Combined with his ingrained integrity, enhanced and developed at the Merchant Marine Academy, there is no one you can trust more than Sam to get the job done and ALWAYS do what is in the best interest of the customer.
He has always been a top producer and held numerous leadership positions over the years. At one point, he ran the #1 retail branch in California in addition to managing retail mortgage branches that closed in excess of $1.5B annually for a large mortgage bank.
Sam and his wife Mary are blessed with four wonderful children, Jack, Jane, Grace and Belle. In his free time, he enjoys competitive softball and football, and golf. He is a sought-after expert speaker in the mortgage industry as well as an avid real estate investor.
Sam has a background as a college football player with a degree in mechanical systems engineering. This experience has been invaluable for the Gaylord-Hansen Team in setting up the appropriate systems and processes to an ever complex and changing mortgage industry.
He focuses on developing and maintaining systems, tools and resources to serve our clients. This could be fine-tuning processes to provide for a better client experience, or improving workflows to keep our organization healthy and thriving. No matter where you’re coming from, you will immediately feel Sam’s genuine passion for serving others.
We are so thankful for Sam’s dedication and leadership!
Garrett graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a double major in Business Finance and Business Operations Management. He was offered a full-time position within the mortgage industry and was set on relocating to Chicago — until Sam Hansen intervened.
After his meeting with Sam, Garrett decided to join the Gaylord-Hansen Mortgage Team and says he made the absolute right decision. “We have so much fun, and we work so hard,” he says. “The number of things I’ve learned here by far surpasses what I could have learned anywhere else.”
The single most important thing to Garrett is his family. “I am a huge family man, and nothing makes me happier than when I am with them,” he says. He particularly loves their annual snowboarding trips to the mountains.
Garrett has grown tremendously from a newbie in the mortgage industry to our team sales manager in four short years. In addition to supporting our team members, Garrett is also the first point of contact to pre-approve, educate, and advise clients.
Garrett’s challenge-oriented nature and competitiveness allows him to find the best possible solution for clients. “In any tough situation, I can and will find a way to make things better,” he says. “No loan is the same, and being able to diagnose what a client needs and find a solution for them is a great feeling.”
While he is driven by a need to succeed, Garrett is also a team player who says leading our team motivates him to do the best possible job. “Every day I am excited to come to work because of the team we have,” he says. “The American Dream is to have home ownership and we get to help people achieve that every day.”
Garrett also relishes in his role on Lifestyles San Diego, finding fun new places to spend time around the city. Tune in to Fox5 on Sunday mornings or our YouTube Channel!
Amanda is our resident outdoor enthusiast! She was born in New York and moved to San Diego at the age of five. Her favorite aspects of San Diego living include the proximity to the beach, mountains, and desert. “I can have it all in one day! And… you can’t beat the San Diego sun!” As to be expected from our classic California girl, a few of her favorite activities include hiking, snowboarding, tennis, running, and wine tasting!
Amanda began her career in the real estate and mortgage industry in 2006. Her previous work consists of secondary marketing and operations management positions.
Amanda’s ability to think outside the box makes her ideal for her role as a Mortgage Expert. She is proficient in finding innovative solutions for her clients’ unique situations. Honesty and integrity are key components of her business model. She views her job not as obtaining a mortgage for clients, but as planning for their future.
She has often referred to her favorite quote to sum up her passion for her work: “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Amanda makes dreams come true, putting families in homes where they can create lifelong memories.
Greg is known as “Mr. Personality”! He is a big teddy bear that brings fun and happiness to those around him. He loves kids and is a big kid himself. He and his wife, Stephanie, had their first child – a boy named Austin – in 2013, and their second – a girl named Samantha – in 2015.
Greg is also a fierce competitor and loves getting his Michigan State Spartan friends together on the weekend to enjoy a beer and a game. In his free time, you can catch him surfing or golfing and enjoying the best of sunny California!
Although Greg is fun loving and light-hearted, he takes his commitment to his borrowers extremely seriously. He wants to make sure they are educated, comfortable, and confident when moving through the homebuying process.
Greg’s background in finance as a savvy investor and homeowner is very beneficial in his role on the Gaylord-Hansen Team. His main role is mortgage origination, meaning he finds his clients the best loan program for their specific situation. He uses comparison tools to simplify the typically confusing mortgage jargon. He gains trust almost immediately as his honesty and integrity shine through.
Greg will be by your side as your teammate all the way to the end zone!
We’re pretty sure Jeff was a sports page in another life. Two of his favorite hobbies include golfing and going to the horse races at Del Mar, but he can join nearly every current sports topic with ease. In his free time, you can catch him most likely making witty jokes at as many live sporting events that he can get to.
Jeff was born and raised in San Diego and loved growing up in the Scripps Ranch area. This left-handed native says, “I loved the sense of community and how you’d always see a friendly face anywhere you went.” We certainly see these values shine through when he’s in the office, as he always warmly greets his teammates.
He’s also no stranger to work-ethic. He obtained a work permit and started his first job on Jack in the Box on his 15th birthday, the first legal day he could work. How’s that for drive and dedication?
Jeff joined the Gaylord-Hansen Team in 2018 after six years in the mortgage industry as an assistant, loan processor, and originator. His honesty and communication are some of his greatest strengths in his current role as a Mortgage Expert. He’s always looking at the bigger picture and is extremely in tune with what’s happening in the markets.
He is very talented at educating and building trust with his clients. “Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make in your life and it is important to go in confident and informed,” he says. “Our team prides ourselves on educating our clients and that is one of the many reasons I enjoy working here.”
We’re lucky to have Jeff and his strong work-ethic on our team!
Although a good portion of her career has been spent in processing and underwriting, Jody has been flourishing as a Pre-Approval Expert with the Gaylord-Hansen Mortgage Team. She started in this industry in 2000 and was fortunate enough to meet Sam and Bill early on, working with the two prior to our team being formed. In 2007, she made the tough decision to change her career path, entered beauty school, and became a licensed hairstylist. She missed the fast pace of mortgage, though, and found herself back working in the industry after a few years. When Sam and Bill asked her to be a part of the team in 2014, she jumped at the chance to work with them again, and as Jody puts it: “It was extremely fitting for me to come back.” We are so glad she did!
Jody is a San Diego native who travels often, especially to the Caribbean. She also enjoys volunteering at the local animal shelter in her spare time to give back to the community. She loves cats, Mexican food, and exploring new places. On weekends, she can be found at the beach or on the patio of a local restaurant with a drink in hand enjoying the great weather & spending time with friends.
John is our charismatic and dedicated family man born and raised in Indiana. He is one of six siblings and grew up spending his summers and winters near Lake Michigan in a town called Long Beach. After 22 years of raising his family in the New York City area, John and his wife Karin packed up, headed straight to San Diego and never looked back– so starts the new adventure!
While John has deep roots on the East Coast, we are thrilled that he chose California and even more so that fate brought him to our door. Just don’t ask him who his favorite baseball team is…that’s, unfortunately, one loyalty that we might never win!
Since John is on the front line with the homebuyer, he always remains committed to making the process as simple and transparent as possible. Having experience as a buyer and a seller in over five states, John understands how impactful each home loan can be, and without fail, he approaches every step down the line with true composure and care.
Throw John whatever curveball, slider, or cutter have, and we can guarantee he’ll hit it out of the park each time.

A native to San Diego, Lindsay started as a loan processor in 2003, transitioned into sales in 2011, and has since never looked back! Ambitious as she is, she’s been an active member in the mortgage industry for some 13 years, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her! Mark is a true testament to the East Coast stigma: ambitious, dedicated, and driven. Growing up in Freeport, NY, some of his favorite memories involve visiting the Hamptons for summer entertainment. Today, he spends his leisure time coaching his son’s sports teams, snowboarding, and jet skiing.
Back in 1990, he started two new San Diego businesses: a real estate company and a mortgage company. With the two in tandem, he was able to assist his clients by providing the best service, all under one roof. How’s that for ambition?
Now, we are lucky to call him part of the Gaylord-Hansen Team!
As the team’s most experienced Mortgage Expert, Mark spends the majority of his time analyzing his client’s financial situation in order to find the best solution for their needs. He takes pride in having the knowledge to minimize debt obligations and affect his client’s finances in a positive manner.
Mark’s golden mortgage rule: “Listen, evaluate, and do for the client what you would do for yourself and family.” Applying this mantra to each and every one of his applicants has made – and kept – Mark successful for the last 30+ years.
Mark prides himself on open, transparent communication and quick turn times. He always works diligently and efficiently to ensure all parties enjoy a smooth, seamless transaction and walk away from the process having a 5-star experience. Mark has been in the financial services and mortgage industries for 20 years. He always makes sure to offer clients strategies that best fit their long term life plans. This ensures that no matter what happens in the future, they have a partner to help guide them through the home loan process.
Mark is an “All-American” boy who grew up in the Midwest just outside of Detroit in Grosse Pointe. He is extremely dedicated to his clients and will always go the extra mile to make sure the job gets done.
Mark is a competitor and very fitness-oriented. His Midwestern roots shine through with his work ethic and drive to excel. He is disciplined in all aspects of life, from staying healthy to making sure each client’s loan is handled with care.
On the flip side, Mark certainly knows how to have fun. He is a die-hard Michigan State Sparty with tons of team spirit. He enjoys playing softball, golfing with friends, and anything outdoor-related. In his free time, you can find him working on home projects with his beautiful wife Lindsey and adorable chocolate lab Wilson.
Mark’s vast knowledge of the mortgage industry, including new loan programs and trends in interest rates, makes him a true mortgage expert. He guides his clients through the loan process from beginning to end. He is skilled at determining the type of loan that best fits each client’s needs and always educates his clients so that they can make informed decisions.
Mark grew up in the mortgage industry and joined the Gaylord-Hansen Team along with his brother, Greg, in 2009.
Markeita Roush-Wedlake grew up 90 miles outside of Chicago in the small town of Rockford, Illinois. Though she now lives in San Diego, her heart is still with the Chicago Bears. She takes pride in knowing more about football than most, and loves spending her weekends watching the games with friends and family.
When asked what she would do if she won the lottery, “Travel, travel travel,” she says. “My family lives near Chicago and I have friends that are spread out across the United States, but I’d also love to see Italy, Greece, and Spain.”
Markeita is thoughtful and energetic and extremely dedicated to helping others. She finds the biggest reward when she helps others succeed. “I love people and their stories and find joy in helping others create their dream home.” she says.
Markeita is on the front lines providing top-notch service to clients with initial consultations and pre-approvals. Her main goal is to find the best mortgage product and provide clear communication and education through the entire process.
She started in the mortgage business in 2001 as an assistant to the Regional Renovation Manager and has spent her entire career in that specialty of renovation loans. After joining the Gaylord-Hansen Team in 2017, her expertise has expanded to other mortgage products, though she still remains our go-to renovation gal!
Mike has specialized in mortgage financing for more than 29 years. He began his mortgage lending career in San Diego in 1988, and since then, he’s helped thousands of local clients achieve their home buying and financing goals.
As a former USC baseball player, he believes that the sport instilled the dedication, discipline, and patience needed to address the complex needs of today's homebuyer. He also owned a mortgage company for over a dozen years. This type of leadership and expertise in real estate finance has helped him build a successful, referral-based business.

We couldn’t be happier to have a first-class professional like Reina on our team!

Ali grew up in sunny Southern California playing volleyball nearly every chance she got. Don’t let her beach blonde hair fool you, though. She grew up with three brothers and can hold her own, whether it’s in our team fantasy football league, or catching a Packers game at the bar.
After working as a personal banker for Wells Fargo for two years, Ali joined the Gaylord-Hansen Mortgage Team in May of 2015. The rest is history!
Ali is able to relate to anyone extremely effectively, which is especially helpful when it comes to finding solutions for her clients. “I can make anything easier to understand,” she says. Since mortgage jargon is often confusing to new home buyers, Ali always optimistically communicates with clients in an assured, diplomatic and poised manner.
Ali is one of our Personal Loan Managers and makes sure everything goes smoothly from contract to close. This position is extremely important to make sure all deadlines are met. She ensures borrowers feel comfortable and empowered throughout the entire process. Think of her as an expert air traffic controller, who effortlessly directs all parties in the same direction.
With her magnetic personality, she can effectively communicate with every type of client. “I have a super detail-oriented memory,” she says, “and it helps me be more personable because I can remember strange details of a conversation or interaction from months prior.”
We can always count on Ali to be the source of positive energy!
Attitude, personality and confidence – Asia brings the perfect balance to the team with her humility and big heart! This San Diego native knows all the best dive bars and loves a karaoke night out with friends. When she is not working out and running the distances, she can be found spending time with her loving husband Will and adorable daughter Everly.
Asia is a seasoned vet when it comes to the mortgage industry. She's worked her wait from a clerical position into processing, then over to a top producing mortgage team for nine years. That all changed in 2016 as she finally made her way over to the Gaylord-Hansen Team – right where she belongs!
As a Personal Loan Manager, Asia’s involvement with the team is heavily structured upon borrower communication. She takes her borrowers from contract to close, while leading frequent interaction with mortgage experts, realtors, processors, underwriters and closers to maintain a timely closing. While being a liaison may not be for everyone, Asia handles her role with ease and never misses a beat.
When asked about what she likes most about her role, she says, “It gets me out of my comfort zone! I can be very shy, but the amazing team environment and interaction with everyone brings me out of my shell and makes me want to excel at my job”.
We are truly lucky to have Asia's talent on our team!
Formerly Christine Chau
Christine is a food connoisseur and the unofficial champion of spicy food tolerance. She also claims to make the best brownies in town!
Believe it or not, her hometown of Riverside, CA, boasts quite a bit of deliciously unique restaurants, sure to satisfy any appetite. By Christine’s recommendation, the “must-try” restaurant is the Salted Pig, which has the best bacon wrapped dates ever made!
When she isn’t baking or scoping out the newest cuisines, Christine enjoys spending time with her husband, Adrian, and having game nights with her family. She is also a huge Disney fan and an unabashed video game addict.
Christine began her mortgage career in 2013 as a receptionist. She quickly moved through the ranks and found her home in 2016 when she joined our team as a Personal Loan Manager. Born and raised in San Diego, Heidi is no stranger to fun in the sun. Growing up, she and her family would spend a few weeks in Mission Beach as a summer getaway. As a child, she became heavily involved in softball and soccer and has evolved into a champion for the Chargers, Padres, and her alma mater’s team, the UCLA Bruins.
She’s not just a city gal, though. Heidi loves to escape out to the calmness of the country and ride horses at her family ranch in Colorado. Combining her strong mortgage skills and love for the country, she’s affectionately been nick-named High-Noon Heidi!
These days, Heidi enjoys spending her weekends with her local hiking group and still enjoys the outdoors with her boyfriend, Ryan. You can also find her catching a concert, or grabbing dinner at local hotspots with her friends from college.
Heidi is a Personal Loan Manager, and the primary contact for borrowers once their loan goes into contract. She acts as a liaison between borrowers, real estate agents, escrow, processors, and underwriting. Most importantly, she ensures that the borrower has a complete understanding of the loan process and remains available to answer all concerns.
A sage piece of advice she was given early in her career: “Treat all borrowers as if they were your family, and only put them in a loan you would want to be in yourself.” This mindset is apparent every day in her communication, and clients quickly learn that Heidi has their best needs at heart.
We are so lucky to have such a kind-hearted gal on our team!

As a Personal Loan Manager, Suzie is the main point of contact after a loan goes into process for all parties involved — real estate agents, escrow agents and borrowers. “The most important piece of the puzzle is the borrower, and I help to guide them through the process,” she says.
Suzie’s ever-present cheery demeanor is the defining feature that makes her so good at her job. “My communication is stellar,” she says. “I want to make sure everyone knows where we are every step of the way.” She is skilled at communicating the urgency of a transaction while keeping clients calm throughout the process.
